Press Release - 05.05.2020 - 07:00
Himmerland Golf & Spa Resort will change its name to HimmerLand on 8 May.
Despite the crisis caused by coronavirus, there are no plans to downgrade ambitions at Himmerland Golf & Spa Resort – from 8 May, simply HimmerLand.
‘Himmerland Golf & Spa Resort’ will simply ditch the Addendum in the title.
“As the home of the European tournament Made in Denmark, our position in the golf world is undeniable. There's hardly a fan of the game who doesn't know that ours is one of Denmark's top golf courses. On the other hand, few people know about our many resources for families with children. Some companies may not be aware of our meeting and conference facilities. Over recent years, we have evolved into something much more than simply a golf and spa resort. And our wish is now to become even more integrated in the fantastic area around us. All this is reflected in the name HimmerLand,” says CEO Mark Bering.
Continued investment
Back in September 2019, Chairman of the Board at Lars Larsen Group Jacob Brunsborg introduced massive investment plans for HimmerLand.
They involve the total renovation of all hotel rooms and the provision of a series of new amenities, including a multi-purpose hall, pickleball courts, sauna by the lake, paddle boards, trampolines, canoes and more besides. These are in addition to the existing facilities for golf, spa and wellness, mini golf, bowling and indoor swimming pool.
Beyond that, HimmerLand has also launched a new conference concept which was developed in collaboration with Christian Bitz, an expert on nutrition.
“Before the lockdown, we were seeing a marked rise in the number of conferences and meetings. I am so pleased that the family at HimmerLand has asked me and my colleagues to continue with the investment, so as to be ready to regale our guests with a wonderful experience when we reopen. We are looking forward to it immensely. I hope that some Danes who might have planned a holiday abroad will instead come to HimmerLand for a week in the summer, to be utterly spoilt. I can certainly guarantee that we have something for all the family,” says Bering.
Confidence in the future
Nor does Chairman of the Board Jacob Brunsborg doubt that future prospects are bright.
“With world class golf links and the European tournament hosted here, it is obvious that golf will always play a major role at HimmerLand and be a key draw for many guests. Now though, with the investment we have made in a raft of new and exciting – not to mention family-friendly – activities, we can offer something for everyone. Over recent years, we've witnessed more and more families with children booking one of the 300 holiday homes that are part of HimmerLand. And this is exactly what we had in mind. The location should be attractive to everyone, even those who do not play golf,” says Brunsborg.
He is happy to be able to announce the continuation of investment in HimmerLand as planned.
“Naturally, the recent episode with coronavirus and the closure of so many places has had a widespread effect for many people and a variety of sectors: it has hit us hard, too. But we, as members of the family, want to invest in further improvements to HimmerLand. So I am looking forward to the moment we can invite guests back in to sample what HimmerLand has to offer,” he concludes.
